This is an excellent memoir. It is a roller coaster of emotion - from the heartache of a child losing his family, the fear of trying to outrun a war, the anger of being put in a situation beyond your control and even the disgust of the author‘s own actions as a solider. The book is a wonderful example of the incomprehensible justifications for war and brutality.
My only criticism of the book is that the ending was a little too abrupt.

A boy of 12 yrs age, taken as a soldier for the army, to fight rebels, during a civil war in Sierra Leone. After years of drug addiction enabling violent ruthless killing, he is taken out and sent to rehab. A harrowing story.
