This book is a solid 3.5/5. It is a touching story of an orphaned boy just trying to make a life for himself the best he can. It explores the effects of loss, poverty, greed and corruption as well as the varied definitions of family and friends. I found the authors depiction of mental illness so astute - it is really quite amazing, he must have done some boots on the ground research to be able to capture it so perfectly. I will definitely look for more work by this author.
