I was unable to find the books of any other UAE authors at my local libraries and used book stores so I resorted to reading this children’s book. I am not the best person to review a book like this because I am an adult, but for what it’s worth I thought it was a good story that could help young people who may feel like they don’t belong or are different from their classmates because they are fasting during Ramadan. I also read Golden Girl by the same author, that one I didn’t really like. I thought the style in which it is written is excellent - a good introduction to poetry for kids - but the story was too niche. A spoiled rich kid (horror or horrors when she has to fly economy vs first class) whose father is detained in another country just doesn’t seem like a very relatable scenario. I recommend sticking with Lailah’s Lunchbox if you’re reading this authors work.
