Excellent writing, providing a glimpse into the everyday lives of ordinary people living peacefully in the middle of a war. The non-linear approach to the story requires focus to keep it straight, but it's worth the trouble as the different townspeople's perspectives on events deepens the readers understanding of the community as a whole.
