I’m not partial to stories with perfect protagonists. Heroes that are more beautiful, more wise, clever, captivating, enchanting, compassionate, heroes that are perfect are not interesting or relatable in any way. Tilte is one of those. She is also a rather ignorant know-it-all, not allowing for other peoples opinions in the face of her opinions which she presents as fact.
I also couldn’t figure out if this was a YA fiction or not. A lot of aspects of the story seemed geared towards kids, but then there was also heroin addicts and sex workers, so…
Another thing, the idea that religious leaders of different faiths would not want to be in the company of each is ludicrous. Most religious leaders are honoured to spend time with other leaders. It’s just one on the small points that makes me think the author didn’t research his work enough. Other religious views of the main characters reminds me of a quote by Terry Pratchett: 'The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think they've found it.'
