The Savage Detectives

Description:
This dazzling novel that established Bolano's international reputation is the story of two modern-day Quixotes--the last survivors of an underground literary movement, perhaps of literature itself--on a tragicomic quest through their darkening world.

This was an oddly compelling book. There were many parts where I thought the story was dragging too much so I’d just skim the pages and skip ahead, but each time, when I picked up at a new chapter I found myself curious to know the details of how the story got to that point, and I'd inevitably go back and carefully read the parts I’d skimmed over. At one point I thought I may return to my review and add another star but three years after reading this I find it not particularly memorable and so stand by my 3 star review.
