"There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes," is going to be my mantra from now on. While this book was geared toward parenting, I feel like it has plenty of advice for people period. The only thing I wish the book would have emphasized more is the built environment. While McGurk mentions the car-centric nature of modern American life, a lot of the restrictions on childhood and adult outdoor time is the fact that if you want to go for a walk you have to spend most of your time making sure you don't get hit by motor vehicles. If the built environment was designed for pedestrians and cyclists half as much as it was for cars and trucks, we would all be a lot better off.
