*REVIEW IS OF AUDIOBOOK VERSION*
I’m not sure I ever understood what the plot was, but it was entertaining nonetheless.
Enrico Santi is truly masterful in his performance of this novel. I will definitely look for more titles performed by him. I think reading this book would be unbearable because of its rather fluid structure, but as an audiobook with a fantastic narrator it kind of works.
Although it is often described as Joycean the writing actually reminded me a lot of Nabokov in terms of play on words, and this is what made it entertaining, but if you were to ask me what it was about I couldn’t answer very well. It seems to be a snap shot in the lives of various characters and, much like reality, there is no real beginning or end.
