Like Ali Smith, Tremor defies genre, with different parts of the book coming from different genres: mixing fiction, non-fiction and auto-fiction. Though it feels a bit more essay-like than Ali Smith, ruminating on art, colonialism, racism, history, suffering, death and care… (and one chapter appears to be a lecture given by the main character, or maybe the author?)
